questions&answers
- What is the system made of?
It is a comprehensive system consisting of two construction solutions – transparent and full.
1) The transparent, glazed part consists of aluminium panels mounted on existing wooden rafters. The aluminium panels are fitted with thermally insulating triple glazing, which serves as both a thermal and waterproofing layer.
2) The solid part consists of above-rafter thermal insulation with a thickness that meets the requirements of each building, along with a waterproofing layer.
Both the transparent and solid parts of the roof are covered with perforated aluminium "magic" tiles, thus achieving a uniform roof surface, without disturbing elements.
- Static design of the NEBESYS system?
- The system is statically calculated for given snow and wind areas in the Czech Republic according to valid EN standards.
- Do you install the system?
- Yes, our company installs the NEBESYS system using its own employees or installation teams trained by us.
- What makes the thermal insulation?
- In the transparent part, thermal insulation is provided by thermally insulating triple glazing, which functions similarly to that of glazed buildings in the form of structural facades. The heat transfer coefficient according to the issued building technical certificate is U ≤ 1.05 W/m²K.
- Does the translucent roofing have to be installed over the entire roof area?
- It does not have to be. In the case of a full, non-translucent part, above-rafter thermal insulation is used. As standard, we offer 160 mm PIR thermal insulation, but this composition can be adjusted according to the designer's requirements in the range of 100 – 200 mm PIR.
- What constitutes a waterproofing layer?
- The waterproofing layer is formed in the transparent part of the roof by a system-sealed triple glazing. In the non-transparent part, the waterproofing layer is a folded sheet metal roof.
- Can only windows be executed via the NEBESYS system?
- The NEBESYS system is primarily designed for installation on complete roof surfaces. It is possible to integrate smaller sections into existing or new roofs, but this can lead to ageing and color differences. This should be checked on a project-by-project basis.
- What kind of installation can the NEBESYS system be used for?
- The NEBESYS system is designed for above-rafter installation with a total structure height of 204 – 344 mm above the wooden rafter.
- What is the recommended slope for installing the NEBESYS system?
- The recommended roof slope is 25° or more. Lower inclinations are possible, but require consultation in each individual case.
- What is the weight of the system?
- The weight of the system will not exceed the weight of the replaced original roofing without insulation. Its weight depends on the equipment and ranges from 60 to 70 kg / m².
- How is the system washed?
It is important to remember that everything needs maintenance, and NEBESYS will need it over time. Internal washing is possible at any time, however, for external washing it will be necessary to arrange this service with NEBESYS or its partners as part of a paid service.
1) As standard, we supply the top or outer glass with a patented Bioclean or Pilkington active layer, which reduces the adhesion of dust and ash, i.e. through a photocatalytic reaction.
2) Next, physical cleaning will have to take place, this will depend on the dustiness of the environment where the roof is located, the slope and the investor's requirements, i.e. the expected time is approximately 3 – 6 years. To this day, it has not been necessary to wash the roof in Litomyšl (14 years); the one in Mikulov was washed after 4 years.
3) Physical washing will be carried out within the glazed area by dismantling the tiles. We will submit an offer and after approval by the user, it will be carried out at the agreed time.
4) Furthermore, as part of a possible service, we are developing a robot that will perform system maintenance from the outside between the tile and the glass.
- What is a possible colour solution?
- The roof system is supplied as standard in the colour RAL 9005 semi-matt and the roof tiles are 9005 from the inside and the outside view according to the requirements of the investor, architect or heritage conservation workers.
- What types of roof tiles do you have?
- Currently, we have possible roofing options: Prague monk and nun, French basic, Beaver tail – crown and scale roofing, Steinbrück basic, Flat tile and Folded metal sheet. The transparency or perforation of the tiles is 29.6, 40.3 and 44.5 %. This also implies the solar factor.
- What is the solar factor?
- The solar factor indicates the amount of solar energy that passes into the interior from the outside environment through the window. Thanks to our roofing, we reduce the solar factor by 60 %.
- Can the system be ventilated?
Yes, you can ventilate:
1) Sliding ventilation element
We offer 3 sizes according to the rafter spacing:
- Small - ventilation opening width 315 x height 580mm
- Medium - ventilation opening width 540 x height 580mm
- Large - ventilation opening width 740 x height 580mm
The ventilation element consists of:
- Thermal insulating double glazing composed of bonded glass conex 33.2 & vacuum tempered double glazing
- Stainless steel sliding parts
- Safety optical barrier (if the sliding ventilation element is at a height that is not within reach, i.e. there is no safety risk of hand clamping, the barrier is not supplied)
- Rain sensor
- Control unit
- NEBESYS switchboard which includes a spare power supply to close the element in the event of a power failure
2) Line ventilation
Electric ventilation damper with slot size 35 x 550 mm.
- Fire resistance?
- The full part of the system is a standard roof structure with demonstrable fire resistance. From a fire safety perspective, the transparent part of the system is considered to be an opening filler, without any fire resistance requirements. When designing, it is necessary to consider the transparent or glazed part as a fire open area, which can be supplemented with non-transparent fire strips in the case of fire sections.
