Translucent structures have been long-time dreams of mankind. Friedrich Nietzsche foresaw that in the future architecture would be transparent and it would levitate. But a transparent roof goes even further, all the way to the border of magic. The first system in the world that is an ordinary roof from the outside and transparent from the inside brings an abundance of opportunities. First of all, it protects an open undeveloped landscape. It may sound odd, but the possibility of building needed spaces in underutilised attics and above already standing buildings reduces the need to build new houses in suburban areas. HOW DOES THE NEBESYS™ SYSTEM WORK?

ROOF COVERING

Transparent tiles, stencils, or roofing sheets form our NEBESYS™ roofs. They are indistinguishable from the regular, historic ones, and yet they let in light. They also let in water and they are ‘only’ a shading element that reduces direct solar radiation by 70 to 100%. They thus let into the interior unique diffused light that primarily comes from the brightness of the sky. The tiles are made of perforated varnished aluminium or enamelled steel sheets.

Transparent roof coverings come in all shapes and colours. The basic offer includes Steinbrück tile, plain tile (Bobrovka/beaver tail tile), clay tile (Brněnka), and pan tiles (Monk and Nun), roofing sheets, and stencils.

Thermal insulation

It is only the second, hidden layer that makes the NEBESYS™-system resistant to downfall and heat penetration. The transparent parts are fitted with heat insulation triple-glazed panes that are mounted as a glass structural façade on aluminium system profiles. The PUR panels in the thickness of the glass or the above-rafter insulation PUR 100–200 mm ensure the thermal insulation in the solid parts of the roofing.

Glass plates show a wide range of heat resistance, thus ensuring sufficient thermal comfort. The seams are completely sealed and fully resistant to precipitation.

Ventilation

The supply of fresh air is best ensured by regulated ventilation with filtration and recuperation, complemented with heating or cooling. Direct airing provides sufficient electrically controlled continuous ventilation that uses the convection of air. If extensive contact with exterior is required, skylights can be mounted under the transparent and air-passing NEBESYS™ roof covering.

The supply of air is best ensured by recuperation that shows the lowest heat loss, by direct continuous ventilation, and also by windows hidden underneath roofing.

Contemporary structures place high demands on technology equipment and a great number of various ventilation and sucking piping systems. The perforated NEBESYS™ roofing covers this visual smog and ensures a sufficient supply of air to the technologies. The same way can be used to achieve an incredible effect of roof terraces that are hidden from sight and do not disturb the preservationist character of the roof landscape. Moreover, roller shutters make it possible to create a rainproof pergola.

The NEBESYS™ air-passing roofing is the right solution for technologies that suffer from being exposed to air. It covers all of the units, pipes, and other technologies.

The roof is the crown of the house. Rain splits on the edges of its slanted shape and the inclination opens it up to the sky. We are used to having dark ceilings and non-transparent roofs above our heads. Our transparent roof offers unique sceneries and a flood of light, even when you are not in a unique location that provides a view of the landscape. But the best view is usually from roofs and the wide range of NEBESYS™ options helps to perceive it as a whole. It opens up full horizons and the entire space underneath heaven.

Heat comfort

Light is crucial for creation, but strong contrasts between direct sunlight and shade are uncomfortable. NEBESYS™ provides a plenitude of diffused light spreading over a large surface and it eliminates the contrasts to a minimum. The light is non-traditional, very delicate, and its character reminds one of a stay under tree crowns. Shading ensures a better thermal comfort in summer, while the heat insulation glass provides enough warmth in winter.

We do not have constant needs, and in addition to a beautiful sunlit interior with magnificent views, we sometimes need to hide in half-lit areas when going to sleep or watching a film. Contact the NEBESYS Company sales representative who will visit your property and help you evaluate whether our system is suitable for your structure.

Indicative offer

The sales representative will elaborate an indicative price offer for the entire installation and an offer for the project documentation for a building permit and implementation.

Order

Based on an order submitted by the investor, a special consultant will negotiate the use of the NEBESYS™ system for the given structure with the specified instructions and selected roofing material.

Project documentation

The design team will prepare the NEBESYS™ roof system design as a subcontract to your architect or design office.

Detailed price calculation

The commercial department will prepare a detailed calculation of the construction that includes all of the components selected by the architect or the investor, and it will also include the installation in the given case.

Implementation

NEBESYS™ also provides installation services through its employees, or trains specialist suppliers of roofing systems and trusses and recommends their services.

Handover and care

Controlling service workers supervise the installation and observe it throughout the construction. After its completion, they hand over the functioning and tested system to the investor and provide a post-warranty period for maintenance and service.
